BASA: Filipino Stories for Children
With a Master’s Degree in Reading Education, Bachelor’s in English Language and a theater background, Anna’s storytelling performances and workshops are educationally informed and artistically put together.
In his book The Storytelling Animal, American scholar on literature and evolution Jonathan Gottschall once said, “We are, as a species, addicted to story. Even when the body goes to sleep, the mind stays up all night, telling itself stories.” We are as humans intricately designed for and drawn to stories, not only as children but well into our adulthood. Master storyteller Anna Rhea Manuel invites you into a riveting adventure through the songs and rhymes that have shaped the story of the Filipino people. Discover, learn, and listen to stories that will bridge your own personal experiences with age-old Filipino-inspired tales. Plus, tickle your curiosity and ask questions about Filipino life, language, and people as you go through the class.
(Note: sessions are mostly in English, peppered with Filipino words, phrases, and dialogues).
