Ivy Daulo is a Filipino language educator who holds a master’s degree in Education – Dual Language Development from California State University Long Beach & bachelor’s degrees in Sociology & Linguistics / Language Studies – Tagalog with a special minor in Philippine Studies from University of California San Diego. Ivy is a Los Angeles-based member of the Council of Teaching Filipino Language & Culture and has taught Filipino throughout 7 years for various audiences including elementary, high school, college, and adult levels.

Since 2003, Ivy has been working alongside community leaders and mentors to build upon the Filipino Language Movement and became part of the first batch to pass the California Subject Examination for Teachers in Filipino in 2006. Ivy also gained formal language training studying in the Philippines with the support of incredible teachers and opportunities like Fulbright Hayes’ Advanced Filipino Abroad Program at De La Salle University Manila & Dasmariñas in addition to University of California’s Education Abroad Program at University of the Philippines Diliman.

Ivy’s extensive non-profit work experience includes in-language outreach and community engagement of Filipino communities in the United States. As a second-generation Filipino-American, Ivy relates first-hand to many nuanced experiences of those seeking to reclaim their heritage language and desires to create a safe space for students as she helps them navigate their own Filipino language learning journey.
