This 8-session course will be focusing on basic grammatical structures and sentence patterns that will help a new Visayan speaker communicate well with the locals. In every session, learners will be exposed to new words, phrases, local expressions, and correct pronunciation of words. 

 

Week 1: Ang Balay..Ang Mga Balay (The House…The Houses)

Learn how to replace nouns with pronouns and singular nouns with plural nouns.

 

Week 2: Kagwapa ni Inday! (She is Beautiful!)

Learn how to describe things using Visayan adjectives and use them in their comparative and superlative forms.

 

Week 3: Imoha Ni? Dili! Imoha Na. (Is This Yours? No! That’s Yours.)

Learn how to show possession in affirmative, negative and question forms.

 

Week 4: Nagkaon/ Ningkaon/ Mukaon Ko og Lechon. (I (Am) Eating/Ate/Will Eat Lechon)

Learn some common verbs and how to use them in present, past and future forms.

 

Week 5: Mata Na! Alas-Diyes Na! (Wake Up! It’s Already 10!)

Learn about time expressions and how to use them in affirmative, negative and question statements. 

 

Week 6: Tagpila Nang Isda? (How Much is That Fish?)

Learn and practice dialogues and common sentences used for shopping or renting a hotel room.

 

Week 7: Gusto Akong Muinom Og Kape (I Would Like to Drink Some Coffee)

Learn how to express what you would like to do at the moment.

 

Week 8: Kinahanglan Kang Maminaw  (You Have to Listen)

Learn how to express necessity, advice or obligations in your sentences using the Visayan word “kinahanglan”

 

 

FREE CLASS LESSON 

Learn about some popular Visayan tongue twisters while learning new words and their correct pronunciation.

Description

Jhaela’s roots can be traced back to Cebu and Lanao Del Norte where Cebuano is used as a vernacular. She graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communications in the University of the Philippines  Cebu College. She is TESOL and CTEYL certified. She also has a post graduate diploma in Early Childhood Education. She is currently residing in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam teaching as an English as a Second Language (ESL) Teacher for preschoolers, primary, secondary and university students. She has been teaching for 18 years. Her life principles drive her to create an engaging, productive and memorable class experience for her students.
