This 8-week class series is an Intermediate Level 1 course, which will bounce off from our lessons from the Beginner’s Class. This course will focus on using conversational Filipino in real-life situations:

Session 1: Rebyu. A review of the basics.
Session 2: Anong pangalan mo? What to say when getting to know other people.
Session 3: Filipino time. How to set an appointment when going out on a date, or meeting friends and relatives.
Session 4: Kain na? What to do or say when visiting the homes of friends and relatives.
Session 5: Bababa ba? Bababa! How to give and ask directions, how to give commands, how to find your way inside the Filipino maze that is the mall.
Session 6: Ayoko na! Pagod na ‘ko! How to describe your feelings and emotions without being overly dramatic.
Session 7: Isang dosenang rosas po! Buying something for yourself or your loved ones.
Session 8: Kunwari ako si… Role-playing practice games based on real-life situations.

Description

Rona Co is a Philippine-based screenwriter by profession. She co-wrote some of the most talked-about ABS-CBN teleseryes you may have seen on iWant-TFC such as The Legal Wife, Forevermore, A Love To Last, and Ngayon at Kailanman. With her experience in writing for Philippine television, she was also able to crossover to the big screen, and co-wrote I Love You, Hater, First Love, and the massive hit Hello, Love, Goodbye, the Philippines’ current top grossing film of all time. 

Rona finished her Bachelor’s Degree major in Advertising Management at the De La Salle University, where she also took Master of Arts units in Applied Media Studies. Before becoming a screenwriter, she worked as a journalist, writing and curating stories that appeal to Filipinos living abroad. She was an Editor-in-Chief of One Philippines, a news magazine with distribution in several areas in North America; and also worked as an Editor for Silangan Shimbun, a newspaper for Pinoys in Japan. 

Since 2019, Rona has been taking improvisational theater workshops with Third World Improv, the Philippines’ premier improv school. With her mastery in writing sharp and snappy dialogues and her background in improv, Rona hopes to help her students learn useful conversational Filipino in a fun and engaging class.
