Street Food by Chef Kristen Dominguez Batch4


A live stream-based, beginner-friendly class to help students learn about the Philippines and Filipino cuisine through the country’s Street Food industry. During the class, the instructor will be going over the origins of the dishes, as well as their journey through time as street food staples. The class will also be going over cooking techniques and basic kitchen safety.

Students will be emailed recipes and a grocery item list a week prior to the date of the class, so as to give them enough time to purchase needed ingredients. Students who would like to cook along with the instructor would be asked to please inform the instructor of any food allergies or dietary restrictions prior to the class start (at minimum, 48 hours; as to make sure that a variation or substitute ingredient can be provided).

Class Outline:

  • Brief introduction of teacher and dishes
  • Cooking portion
    • While prepping/ cooking, include bits of history about the dish
  • Tasting/ Q&A portion
  • Closing notes and final thoughts

Proposed Menus:

  • Week 1: Kikiam
  • Week 2: Lumpiang sariwa
  • Week 3: Sotanghon
  • Week 4: Camote cue and turon
